Job Description And Position RequirementsThe Food Science Department is seeking a part-time research assistant to work in Yi Zhang's lab to help with the following:Conduct experiments in protein purification and quantificationSet up and perform laboratory protocols and experiments using fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) equipment to purify and quantify characterize food proteins from mixturePrepare buffers, reagents, standards, and samples.Operate and maintain relevant laboratory instruments, such as spectrophotometers, plate readers, pH meters, centrifuges.Collect and analyze dataRecord experimental procedures and observations.Conduct routine statistical analyses (e.g., summary statistics, t-tests/ANOVA) and generate figures, tables, and concise summaries.Interpret results and report.Assist in lab managementPrepare purchase requests.Track orders, confirm receipt.Maintain lab SOPs.BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCESEmployment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICSPursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
