Summary
Our Controller is the backbone to our overall general accounting and financial reporting. This individual ensures we have proper accounting policies and procedures, controls, and timely and accurate financial statements. Our Controller also manages our operational accounting functions including; payroll, A/R, A/P, general accounting.
Duties include:
Manage Monthly Close process
Produce recurring financial reports
Assist with annual budgets and financial forecasts
Assist and oversee tax, payroll, sales tax, federal, etc
Ad hoc reports as requested
Ensure timeliness and accuracy of all financial reporting
Oversee all daily financial and accounting operations: Accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), payroll, job cost, etc.
Manage all accounting personnel as assigned
Ensure accounting hardware and software systems are active and regularly updated
Develop, implement and manage financial and accounting systems, policies and procedures
Mentor, train and develop direct reports and other employees as required on financial and accounting management systems, policies and procedures
Develop documented desk procedures and performance metrics for direct reports
Develop tools and systems that provide key performance indicators (KPIs) for management
Cash flow planning, management and forecasting
Recurring reconciliations to ensure accuracy
Develop and maintain relationships with key financial, accounting, legal and insurance partners and organizations
Banking institutions, bonding and insurance companies, insurance agents, accounting and law firms, etc.
Prepare information needed for and analyze information provided by key relationships for audits, reviews, renewals, financing, suits, etc.
Join and participate in industry related organizations and associations for continuing education
Manage risk and ensure continuous risk-mitigation
Internal controls
Tax, GAAP, legal and other regulatory compliance
Review customer agreements and contracts as necessary
Manage company owned assets including depreciation and amortization schedules
Other duties as may be assigned
Skills & Abilities
Highly proficient in using accounting systems, technology and financial reporting. COINS experience preferable
In depth knowledge of construction accounting including Progress Billings and Percent Complete
In depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Federal, State, and Local tax laws
In depth knowledge/expertise using business software including MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access
Detail Oriented
Uses Critical thinking to find solutions for problems
Highly Organized
Self-Starter; able to work with little supervision/direction in a demanding environment
Communication - Strong written and verbal communication skills
Education & Experience
Education; College Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. CPA desired but not mandatory
Overall Experience; Minimum of 10 years of work-related skill, knowledge, and experience
Electrical Contractor Experience; Experience in electrical sub-contracting/contracting and construction is highly desirable
