As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Power and Propulsion Projects section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.This role will give you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the thrilling world of human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**Duties And ResponsibilitiesSome of your major responsibilities will include:Be responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans.Prepare materials for the system life cycle phasing, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and to help them plan risk responses.Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall system design and performance.Utilize a requirements management software and systems engineering tool such as DOORS, Cradle or Jama.Create and manage requirements for various projects - including flow down from NASA Program to contractor Project through verification closeout as well as interface definition between subsystems.Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and raise issues.Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors.Perform other duties as required.QualificationsREQUIRED:A BS Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of two 92) years of experienceExperience with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processesExcellent written and verbal communication across multiple disciplinesKnowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environmentExperience with requirements management, verification and validation definition and execution, design trades, risk analysis, and system analysis of space hardwareAbility to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetingsFamiliarity with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products.PREFERRED :Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and design software and toolsWorking knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, and unique disciplinesFamiliarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and share point sites as well as typical systems engineering software productsExperience in technical or team leadership roles.Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.Additional InformationPAY, BENEFITS AND WORK SCHEDULE:We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.
