Requisition ID # 172271 Job Category: Information Technology Job Level: Individual ContributorBusiness Unit: Information TechnologyWork Type: HybridJob Location: Oakland  Department OverviewGrid Platform & Network is a unified organization comprised of various departments which collaborate effectively in order to deliver high quality technology solutions around Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Substation Protection. Position SummaryThe Solutions Architect, Expert holds primary responsibility for and accountability for solution blueprints that include the conceptual, logical and physical layers of the process, application, information, integration, security, and infrastructure views of the architecture within a specific technology domain related to SCADA and Protection;  Partnering with Project and Program Managers, the Solutions Architect is the primary technical decision makers on projects and this role works in partnership with stakeholders such as business architects, solutions architects, other technology architects and associated operations and functional areas to establish strategic direction and relevant reference architectures, technology standards and design patterns.  PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be around the minimum and the midpoint $140,000 - $189,000. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs. Bay Area Min: $ 140,000Bay Area Max: $ 238,000This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and our Oakland, CA office approximately 1 - 2 days per week, or more, based on business needs.Job ResponsibilitiesArea of Focus is specific technology telecommunication domain related to SCADA and Protection, including these edge communication solutions.  Solutions Architect have accountability and responsibility for focus areas that are of complex scope and with significant risk and high impact across multiple functions. They work autonomously. They address complex problems that span functions and may manage projects or initiatives that are high complexity and risk. They provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to non-architect technical staff of lesser experience, including other subject matter experts and field telecom technicians. They generally work with Senior Management to influence strategies and decisions. Future State Planning and Road mapping: Works with business and technology partners to plan for technology change. This includes regulatory and financial planning along with alignment to business technology capability needs. Develops various types of roadmaps to align across business and technology timelines.Portfolio Capability Management: Works with business and technology partners to manage the technology capabilities of the domain for the architect’s focus area. Strives to provide the necessary technical capabilities while managing cost and risk to the enterprise.Concept and Business Case Development: Introduces change to existing technology capabilities for the architect’s focus area. Develop strategies, roadmaps and business cases for the change while working with business and technology partners.Standards and Governance: Develops artifacts that document current or future technology capabilities for reuse. Participates in the governance processes as defined by the PG&E architecture practice.Capabilities Assessment and Technology Oversight: Evaluates health of the technology within the architect’s focus area and develops improvements plans for their domain.Architecture Practice: Shapes and follows the PG&E architecture practice. Helps drive continuous improvement of the practice. Leads communities within the practice. Mentors’ other architects. QualificationsMinimum:BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field or equivalent experience7 years experience in engineering or IT-Information Technology related fieldLeadership experience Desired: Master’s degree in engineering or job-related discipline or equivalent experienceProfessional Engineering (PE) licenseExperience with domain technologies and techniques, job-relatedLeadership experience
