CNC Programmer IIIResponsible forwriting and updating computer-numerical control (CNC) programs to controlcontour path machining of metal parts or tooling on automatic machine tools.Who are we?Founded in 1849, Ducommun is the oldest company in California. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.Job SummaryAnalyzes drawings, sketches, and design data of part to determine dimension and configuration of cuts, selection of cutting tools, and machine speeds and feed rates.Creates and evaluates tool designs and coordinates with engineering for appropriate changes.Analyzes, designs, and manufactures machine holding fixtures for parts.Computes angular and linear dimensions, radii, and curvatures, and outlines sequence of operations required to machine part.Prepares geometric layout using Mastercam software to show location of reference points and direction of cutting paths.Writes instruction sheets, check sheets, and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.Writes programs for multi- axis CNC milling & lathe machinesCompares computer printout with original program sheet to assure accuracy of machine instructions.Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.Observes operation of programs using NC plot software to prove out tool paths.Responsible for effectively training, mentoring, operators for evaluating and resolving process issues.Resolve CNC program and associated manufacturing issues with all relevant departmentsInitiate continuous improvement To Do list ideas, set-up time and cycle-times improvements.Effectively write standard operations instructions.Set-up and operate all CNC machines in facility.Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.Resolves CNC program and associated manufacturing issues with all relevant departments.Other duties as assigned. Required Skills and QualificationsProficient knowledge of Mastercam & Solid WorksAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAbility to manage numerous projects and meet deadlines as requiredAbility to work independently and a good memory for detailStrong analytical and communication skills and meticulous work habitsPleasant personality, must interact with all levels of personnelOvertime and weekend work as needed to support manufacturingRead and understand internal procedures and policiesTeam oriented with a continuous improvement outlookExpert; Works independently without supervision.Computer Skills: Proficient use of new screens, reports, functions and simple software programs with assistance.Proficient use of shop math skills e.g addition subtraction of whole numbers and time intervals & trigonometry. Required Experience and EducationAssociate's degree (A.
