Supervisor Custodial Services Full time, 12-month, 40-hour work week. Annual Pay: $53,552.00 with standard benefits. This institution is an equal opportunity provider. Position Summary Assists the Director of Facilities Services in identifying and completing all responsibilities associated with the cleanliness of District buildings. Essential Functions Supervises the custodial staff within assigned area. Reviews applications and conducts preliminary interviews of applicants for custodial positions. Supervises, instructs and monitors the cleaning tasks handled by custodians. Maintains inventory of supplies and tools and handles distribution to decentralized custodial sites. Communicates with Head and Lead Custodians through timely formal and informal meetings, the buildings' needs and future plans which impact these personnel. Reviews, edits, and approves payroll for assigned employees electronically through the payroll system. Communicates with building staff in assigned areas to ensure that duties and being completed in a timely manner. Evaluates custodians in an annual performance appraisal that is shared with the employee. Assists the Director of Facilities Services in gathering and reporting information on completion of tasks and performance of department; makes recommendation on the staffing of schools. Inspects District property for safety hazards and calls such items to the attention of the appropriate administrators. Coordinate and supervise the snow removal operations for assigned buildings. Assists the Director of Facilities Services in recommending employees for promotion, demotion, transfer or termination. Coordinate and supervise project buffing teams in floor care operations. Promotes good communication by attending and participating in staff meetings. Inspects District property for safety hazards and calls such items to the attention of the appropriate coordinators. Reviews and approves requests for sick time, personal leave, overtime, vacation, perfect attendance and enters them into the payroll system. Reviews requests for leave, overtime, vacation and perfect attendance and submits to Coordinator of Maintenance and Ground Services for final approval. Reports all job-related injuries or incidents which result in a possible loss of time or medical treatment to Human Resources. Legally and safely operate a District motor vehicle as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Essential Skills and Abilities Ability to perform activities related to the cleanliness of each assigned building. Ability to provide direct supervision to other employees to ensure they are meeting their assigned goals. Ability to problem-solve. Ability to communicate effectively with employees and other stakeholders throughout the District. Ability to recognize common safety and health hazards. Ability to stoop, bend, twist, lift and move equipment and supplies, including lifting up to 50 pounds on occasion and 20-30 pounds repetitively. Ability to climb ladders as needed. Ability to wear job-appropriate personal protective equipment. Basic Requirements One to three years' prior supervisory experience, in a school or similar environment preferred. Custodial operations experience required. High school diploma or GED. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of basic computer programs. Knowledgeable of all essential equipment. Possess a valid driver's license. Equipment Used Propane burnisher, propane stripper, tail vacuum, backpack vacuum, upright vacuum, carpet extractor, restroom machines (Kaivac, Compass), snow blower, tractor, carpet spotter machines, flat cart, two wheeler, trash truck, auto scrubber, ride on scrubber, pallet jack, power washer, mop and mop bucket, curb sweeper, gas/electric blower, side by side, salt spreader, wet/dry vacuum, hand power tools, dust mop, pan and broom, spray bottles, micro fiber, hand tools, snow shovel, putty knife, razor blades, pump sprayer, micro duster, toilet brush, ladders, chemical dispenser, computer, fax machine, copy machine, scissor lift, motor vehicle. Work Environment Within district buildings. Outside of school buildings, including in inclement weather. Must be flexible, able to report to various school sites and when necessary, various shifts or days of the week, including weekends and evenings. This position is very active and requires the physical ability to enable standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, sitting, talking, hearing, twisting, reaching, and lifting throughout each shift.
