You'll support field operations by preparing work, using tools, and staying one step ahead of excavation and utility crews on roadwork, site work, and commercial/multifamily development projects.What You'll Get To DoKeep the pipe going in the ground with quality and start to build your personal license library.Install ductile iron, SDR35, HDPE, RCP and more for water, sewer, and drainage systemsProtect crew time by keeping equipment organized, accounted for, and ready to useKeep work accurate using hand tools, small power tools, rotary lasers, and field technologySupport quality underground utility work by helping with trench work, drainage, water mains, stakes, grades, blueprints, and elevations, where your experience allowsHelp the crew work better together by staying aware of what is happening around youBuild toward the next field role by learning the path from Pipe Layer to Foreman to SuperintendentWho You AreYou bring 2+ years of underground utility installation. We may also consider other related field experience.You're comfortable using hand tools and small power toolsYou can use rotary lasers, and want to become more fluent in elevationsYou can think through challenges that require math to make practical decisionsYou like physical, hands-on work where the day moves quickly, the work changes rapidly, and your part helps the crew make visible progress.You have a valid driver's license and reliable transportationYou're authorized to work in the United StatesEven Better, But Not RequiredExperience installing drainage or water mainsExperience working in trench boxesExperience using Topcon GPSAbility to perform layout, including stakes and gradesAbility to read blueprintsTypical ScheduleTypical hours are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Work is consistent year-round, weather-dependent, with about 5 hours of overtime per week. Projects range from 4 weeks to 2 years. Travel is minimal and focused around the greater Hartford area.
