Middle School Theater Technician (Part-Time)
Harvard-Westlake School seeks candidates for the position of Middle School Theater Technician. This is a part-time, hourly position beginning in late August 2026 through early June 2027. Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Technical Director, the Middle School Theater Technician provides technical support for performing arts events and school functions. This role supports lighting and sound operations, assists with production needs, and helps guide student crews in a collaborative educational environment. ResponsibilitiesOperate sound and/or lighting systems for performing arts events in the 840-seat Saperstein Theater and the 100-seat Katzenberg Black Box TheaterProvide technical support for school-wide events, including guest speakers, parent programs, and administrative eventsAssist in supervising and supporting student crews during rehearsals and productions QualificationsStrong background in technical theaterKnowledge of safe working practices and procedures in a theater environmentExperience with ETC Eos family lighting systems, basic networking, and stage electrical systemsExperience in sound reinforcement for live performance, including digital audio mixing consoles and audio networkingStrong organizational and communication skillsDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a production teamAbility to work evenings and weekends as needed ScheduleThis is a part-time position working as needed for productions and events. The schedule will be coordinated with the Technical Director. Typical hours include weekday rehearsals from 3:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (until 7:00 p.m. for some dress rehearsals), occasional Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and evening events from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Approximately 10-15 hours per week can be expected, depending on the production and event schedule. CompensationAnticipated hourly rate: $32-$40 per hour, based on experience.
