Lead Painter
Job Summary
The Lead Painter will lead the pre-finish operation. He/she will perform assigned duties to prepare, finish and reassemble products that require pre-finishing per customer order specifications. This position will work with the Logistics Specialist to ensure all schedules and deadlines are met. This position drives productivity by decreasing costs and minimizing product transfers.
Responsibilities
Analyze order copies and daily schedule for finishing requirements.
Perform visual quality inspection for, but not limited to, missing parts, damage, glue or silicone squeeze out.
Repair damaged product prior to finishing (ironing out dents, remove glue or silicone residue, light sanding, etc.)
Apply stain, paint and topcoat in accordance with the process guidelines to achieve a quality appearance.
Ensure exceptional levels of quality and accuracy while maintaining on-time completion.
Work to ensure production rates are met.
Clean work area and tools after each use.
Train Finishers to ensure the highest quality workmanship.
Maintain accurate inventory of stain and paint.
Perform and document routine maintenance of the paint booth and required PPE.
Generate ideas for improving safety and efficiency.
Actively participate in the continuous improvement process.
Comply with all safety procedures and attend monthly safety meetings.
Timely attendance.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 12 months finishing experience.
Ability to lift and carry more than 100 pounds.
Ability to learn mechanical skills and use hand and powered tools.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Ability to understand and carry out instructions.
Ability to communicate with and work well with others.
Must be able to pass medical exam to wear a respirator.
