Job Summary The Project engineer receives daily leadership support from program managers under the director of field operations and is responsible for a variety of field-based project management tasks. The successful candidate will be field-based, and willing to work in locations spanning across California. We place an emphasis on candidates with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Duties/Responsibilities Administrative duties (not limited to) Document Control
As-built management
Submittal to the internal project management team
Safety reporting
Project closeout Register development and management
As-built consolidation
Archiving all documentation in the shared drive
Field duties (not limited to) Procurement and coordination with the project schedule Log development and management
Quality control Workmanship compliance with provided documentation
Field Resolution Effective RFI’s with suggested solutions provided to internal project management team
Supervision support Active participant in foreman meetings
Material delivery coordination
Interim field supervision as needed and daily journal compliance
Leadership Communication – effective verbal and written communication
Modeled behaviors – serves and respects others
Mentoring – raise up others
Business development – business focused
Preconstruction Planning Game plan participation
Construction CPM schedule input/development
Project phasing and logistic development
Coordination Constructability review and implementation into design plans
Walks site and implements differences into as-builts
Permitting coordination with internal team
Provide project manager with insight to project risks and mitigation strategies; must be able to problem solve.
Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent communication between field teams and office-based staff.
Be the on-site customer point of contact, providing customer-facing support for field crews.
Redline project drawings as necessary.
Provide quality control of project documentation.
Prepare reports for clients.
Monitor quality control schedule and provide cost data as requested.
Assist crews with daily/weekly work planning including, but not limited to, preparation of weekly binders and performing site walks.
Ensure crews have accurate safety and quality documentation on site.
Ensure project closeout punch list items are completed in a timely fashion
Desired Skills/Abilities Microsoft office suite proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
Effective communication and ability to communicate effectively in all formats

Ability to work in the field
Ability and willingness to travel throughout CA
Clear driving record
Ability to demonstrate strong math and computer skills, strong written and verbal communication and an attention to detail
1 year of previous Quality control background
Ability to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime
Ability to drive safely in all weather and road condition
Ability to travel and transfer to a new headquarter upon request at any time; throughout the entire PG&E service territory with no guarantees as to how long you will be away from home
Ability to read construction drawing
Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Fire-Retardant Clothing
Ability to communicate effectively in all formats
Good at problem solving
Organized
Education and Experience 3 years of relevant experience in field engineering, construction management, or similar experiencerequired
Construction industry experience, including redlining drawings, preparing RFIs, change orders and submittals
Document mark up
Familiar with Underground Service Alert (USA)
Physical requirements Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time.
Must also be able to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck and have good hand and finger dexterity.
Specific vision abilities required by this job may include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
Compensation $43 to $48 per hour
*Compensation hourly, non-exempt, DOE, + bonus potential, + 100% paid full benefits for you and your family, generous paid time off, and an employer funded retirement plan. You must successfully pass a background and drug test prior to the start date.
