A day in the lifeYou step into a well-organized toolroom, review a new set of prints, and plan how to build a precision fixture that will keep production humming. Before lunch, you’re on a lathe and mill, dialing in tolerances on a complex die component. Later, you’re troubleshooting a stamping issue with production, testing a repaired jig, and documenting updates so the next run is even smoother. This is how you’ll make an impact—designing, building, repairing, and maintaining the tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures that power our manufacturing operations and quality standards.What you’ll tackleDesign, fabricate, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures to engineering and production specifications.Set up and run lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment to produce high-accuracy components.Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders to define requirements and plan fabrication steps.Inspect and test tools and dies to verify quality, dimensional accuracy, and safe operation.Diagnose and correct tool, die, and equipment issues to minimize downtime.Perform routine maintenance and adjustments to sustain tool performance over time.Partner with engineering and production to resolve tooling challenges and increase throughput.Record specifications, maintenance, and repair history with clear, accurate documentation.Follow safety protocols and use required PPE when operating equipment and handling tooling.Keep the toolroom orderly to maintain a safe, efficient work environment.Contribute ideas to continuous improvement of tool design, performance, and manufacturing processes.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.What you bringHands-on experience in a manufacturing setting as a tool and die maker or equivalent.Fluency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.Deep knowledge of machining practices and equipment, including CNC.Proven troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and problem-solving ability.Exceptional precision and attention to detail.Mechanical aptitude with strong skills in tool fabrication and repair.Comfort working independently and collaborating across teams.Knowledge of safety standards and proper PPE use in manufacturing.Clear communication with engineering, production, and cross-functional partners.Experience in transfer tooling, miniature retainer bearings.Proficiencies we look forEquipment TroubleshootingTroubleshooting SkillsMetal Stamping & Forming (Progressive Die)Precision Measurement & Hand MetrologyBlueprint ReadingMachines you’ll work withManual GrinderManual Vertical MillJig GrinderWork setupWork Environment: Manufacturing floor with exposure to industrial equipment, noise, and varying temperatures.Physical Demands: Role may require occasional walking, standing, and warehouse site visits.Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for extended hours as needed.Travel: Occasional travel may be required for supplier visits, conferences, and inter-facility coordination.*The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.
