Job DescriptionThe Area Operations Manager provides overall direction and guidance to the operational activities of the regional organization with the objective of managing and controlling costs maximizing growth and profitability in a sustainable manner. Position will provide day-to-day Situational Leadership for the success of team members using the Carmeuse guiding principles & values.Responsibilities (main areas of responsibilities of the position)Manages regional operations by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established values, goals, objectives, and policiesDrive a team culture that enhances the experience and empowers the support functions in order to achieve the region wide goals successAble to execute and contribute to a long range vision for the region by implementing agreed programs to ensure attainment of business plan for growth and profit with emphasis on long term principals, sustainability, and a creative work environmentDevelop and create initiatives aligned with organizational goalsProvides direction and structure for operating units through celebrating successes, rewarding positive behavior, motivation, and accountabilityDrive systematic approach in all facets of operations with a focus on continuous improvement in order to generate higher ROI and workflow optimizationProvide mentoring, growth opportunities and guidance to subordinates and other employees with an emphasis on Succession Planning and personal career growth throughout all levels of the organizationCollaborate across regions to spread Best Practices and experiences through a focus on Continuous Improvement and knowledge managementBasic requirements(Education, Level of Experience, Language)Related Bachelor Degree, MBA or Masters Degree is preferredMinimum 10 experience progressive experience in mining or heavy engineering industryMinimum of 10 years managerial experience with increasing responsibilityMust demonstrate the ability to effectively lead a $50MM + business unitProven in leading operational excellence through application of behavior based managementPrior experience demonstrating effective management skills, knowledge of continuous manufacturing sectorDemonstrable team work and maturity with a strong work ethicFluency in spoken and written EnglishAbility to travelNeeded Knowledge and Skills(Technical knowledge required by the position)KnowledgeKnowledge of operational managementKnowledge of people management skillsStrong knowledge of Carmeuse policies, processes, and proceduresExperience in mining and/or heavy engineering industryKnowledge of continuous manufacturing business sectorTechnical creditability as it relates to industry, with a preference on mining and kilnsSkillsAbility to build relationships across the organizationEstablish strong team environment within the regionDemonstrates high level of business acumen by building appropriate aspects of the business plans, budgets, and achieves goals and objectivesAbility to manage operational systems while providing oversight to various activities within the regionAbility to maintain positive and responsive interpersonal relationshipsAbility to work collaboratively with other departmentsDemonstrates strong organization and facilitation skills; e.g. planning and organizing, problem solving, analytical, decision making, multi-tasking, etc.Demonstrate excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical, managerial, and business topics to all audiencesExcellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organizationStrong analytical and technical aptitudeForward thinking and challenging the status quoEfficient in change management practicesAbout UsREADY TO JOIN A ROCK-SOLID FAMILY?Carmeuse started out as a small family-run business in Belgium.Today it's a leading global producer of lime, high calcium limestone and dolomitic stone.
