Clinic LPN

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm Will cross train for all positions Position Summary A clinically competent Licensed Practical Nurse who coordinates and delivers professional nursing care to the acutely ill patient in all phases of life (newborn through geriatric) using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Effectively interacts with the patient, significant other(s), and other health team members while maintaining the standards of professional nursing. Responsible for assisting physicians/providers, patient preparation and basic screening procedures, to assure efficient patient flow in clinic. Position Summary Expanded: Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act, (“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites. Minimum Qualifications ACLS and BLS required upon hire. PALS required within 90-days of employment Demonstrates initiative, ability to work with others, and professional judgement. Education and/or Experience Knowledge of theory, principles, techniques, and practice of professional nursing; of scientific principles and nursing research; of preparation, administration, and action of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care. Ability to operate and handle many kinds of complex equipment. Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in caring for pediatric through geriatric patients. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. **Required educational levels call for proof at time of hire. 2 years previous clinic experience preferred. Licensure/Certification Licensed as an LPN in the state BLS and ACLS required upon hire PALS required within 90-days of employment Proof of all required License(s) and Certification(s) is due at time of hire. Experience / Knowledge / Skills Demonstrated clinical competence. Knowledgeable in current nursing principles and practices which are unit/age specific. Appropriate manner, conduct, and grooming. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively. Cognitive, technical, and interpersonal skills required to deliver intelligent, safe, and effective nursing care. Collection of selected data about the health status of the patient. Participates in the development of the plan of care with other team members and safety implements that plan. Communicates in an attentive and individualized manner in every encounter. Verifies the patients understanding of the purpose of the visit. Provide instructions/teaching to the patient according to the educational plan. Documents care provided or procedures performed accurately on patient records. Provide each patient care in a safe, comfortable and private environment. Provide preventive care information that matches patient age, sex and health Provides all duties of an LPN/RN Ability to administer a variety of treatments and medication as directed. Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients. Ability to take patient vital signs. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Additional Responsibilities Seek out external resources through conferences, workshops, etc. as necessary. Share professional knowledge with hospital staff, board members, and administrator. Comply with HIPAA regulatory requirements. Adhere to the hospital’s philosophy, mission, and policies and procedures. Support the hospital’s goals and objectives. Maintains a good attendance record and follows all hospital rules, policies and procedures. Maintains open and effective communications with patients and their nurses, physicians, peers, supervisors, and students. Establishes and maintains excellent interdepartmental and interpersonal relationships. Attends departmental meetings and in-services to stay current with the developments of the department and hospital. Observes that proper safety measures are enforced in the techniques used on patients receiving medications. Maintains high safety standards in the hospital. Ability to maintain quality control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in a busy or emergent situation. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Interpersonal Skills Demonstrates active listening techniques. Gains support through effective relationships.
