AVP, Actuarial Financial Reporting — Variable AnnuitiesBoston | HybridA leading insurance and investment platform is seeking an AVP, Actuarial Financial Reporting to join its actuarial valuation organization and lead financial reporting for a portfolio of Variable Annuity blocks.This is a highly visible role for an actuarial leader who understands Variable Annuities, valuation, reserves, GAAP/STAT reporting, and earnings analysis. The position is not a model-building role; instead, this team works closely with modeling, finance, accounting, STAT, GAAP, and data teams to analyze model outputs, book reserves, explain results, and support executive-level financial reporting.What you’ll doLead actuarial financial reporting and valuation analysis for Variable Annuity blocksReview and analyze model outputs, reserve movements, earnings results, and sensitivitiesSupport GAAP, Statutory, Tax, and other actuarial balance reportingPartner cross-functionally with modeling, finance, accounting, data, and controls teamsManage, develop, and support a small actuarial teamHelp maintain and improve reporting processes, controls, and analytical frameworksSupport audits, regulatory requests, and recurring close/reporting cyclesIdeal backgroundFSA designation8+ years of actuarial experience within life insurance, annuities, or related insurance productsMeaningful and recent Variable Annuity experience requiredStrong understanding of valuation, reserves, GAAP, STAT, and actuarial financial reportingExperience with VA reporting, valuation, modeling, or pricing will be consideredPrior people management or team leadership experienceStrong Excel skills; database experience is helpfulPython, MG-Triton / Triton, or other actuarial systems experience is a plus, but not requiredStrong communication skills and ability to partner across actuarial, finance, accounting, and modeling teamsCompensationBase salary: approximately $140K–$180K, with some flexibility for the right candidateTotal cash compensation: approximately $180K–$230KEquity component expected at this levelTotal package up to approximately $240KWhy this opportunityThis is a rare opportunity to step into a visible actuarial leadership role with ownership of complex Variable Anuity blocks, exposure across multiple senior stakeholder groups, and long-term mobility across a broad insurance platform.The right person will bring enough technical depth to understand the VA reserve and reporting mechanics, while also being able to lead a team, communicate clearly, and operate as a central partner across actuarial, finance, accounting, and modeling.
