The schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Thursday OR Tuesday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM.Detailed information regarding the County's benefits package and retirement offerings may be found here: 2025-26 Citrus EBH Booklet and myFRS.comTo learn more about Citrus County: Citrus County Government and Official Guide to Crystal River and Citrus County, FloridaEssential FunctionsDrives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.Operates and maintains sewage pump truck, installation, maintenance and repairs of water and sewer services including meters, back flow devices, valves, piping, and other associated utility appurtenances.Assists in the operation and maintenance of wastewater pump stations.Assists in preventive maintenance programs including facility and grounds maintenance.Assumes regularly scheduled on-call responsibilities as well as maintaining 24/7 contact (i.e., county issued cell phone/pager) to assist in emergency water and sewer repairs when possible.Performs work duties on weekends and holidays as needed.Performs other duties as required.Minimum RequirementsEducation, Training, and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent.Some course work in principles and practices of utilities (water/wastewater) operations, preferred.Some experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to work after normal business hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays).Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.Must have sufficient physical strength, agility, and stamina to perform assigned tasks under adverse conditions.Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.Certificates and LicensesValid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.Must have or be able to obtain within one (1) year of employment, Florida Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class "A" with "N" endorsement.Must have or be able to obtain within one (1) year certification in back flow (testing/repair), water distribution or wastewater collection.Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); andIS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management SystemPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentRequires standing and walking most of the day.The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.The job requires frequent bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, balancing, and twisting, and on occasion jumping and throwing.The job requires the completion of tasks that involves simple grasping, pushing, pulling, fine manual manipulation, typing, operating foot controls/levers, driving automotive equipment, and working in darkness.The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.The job may risk exposure to adverse weather, moving machinery, fumes and gases, electrical hazards, unprotected heights, and extreme noise.Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Emergency Response/Recovery ActivitiesAll employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency.
