Maintenance Supervisor
About the site:Our Indianapolis facility combines precision machining and assembly capabilities to deliver high-quality medical device components and finished products.About the role:The Maintenance Supervisor at the Indianapolis facility is a “hands on” position that is responsible for the upkeep on all production and facility equipment, HVAC, electrical and water systems, buildings and grounds, routine maintenance in addition to appropriate record keeping. May perform daily maintenance and repairs to comply with GMPs, ISO, EPA, OSHA, and Viant policies. Represent Viant in a professional and exemplary manner before our suppliers, employees and community at large.Work Model: Onsite M-F (7:00am-4:00pm)What you'll do:Run the Maintenance Dept. with employees who are trained to perform their assignments in a professional and timely manner, including performing any of the work personally.Ensure all preventive maintenance is completed by the schedule for all equipment.Adheres to company safety policies and programs such as Personal Protective Equipment, Incident/Injury Reporting, Hazard Communication and Labeling.Works with public utility, environmental, and energy agencies including OSHA, State & Federal Environmental regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with regulations.Schedules facilities modifications including cost estimates and purchasing requirements.Coordinate and maintain the proper methods, procedures and handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste in the plant and work with Vendors to pick up waste, (scrap metal, waste, hazardous waste, etc.) Employ the strategies of 5S to maintain an efficient work area; clean, well-ordered and maintaining the right types and amounts of spare parts.Coordinate schedules of outside contractors for routine maintenance items/service contracts, manages outside contractors and other outside vendors doing work at the facility or on the grounds.Will lead or a be a member of site Safety Committee; manages safety audit process.Inspects plant and evaluates use of space and facilities. Assist when needed in machine moves and various projects.Operate a forklift when necessary.Execute preventative maintenance tasks in the facility. Work independently with minimal supervision. Communicate with the plant teams and other employees. Report on any safety issues and work on corrective action solutions. Comply with all GMP and Quality System as defined by Viant Medical policies, practices and procedures, FDA and ISO regulations and quality standard. Other duties as assigned. Education/Certification and Experience:High school graduate or equivalent with some appropriate post-secondary education relating to the maintenance field or a relevant degree would be preferred.A candidate with an electrical background is preferred.At least 5+ years in an Engineering or Maintenance Technician position in a regulated manufacturing facility.Experience with maintaining CNC machines and HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water systems, and cryogenic gases and other facilities components is preferred.Able to give and follow instructions, both written and verbal.Effectively communicate with all levels of employees, as well as outside contractors.Excellent organizational skills; able to manage multiple priorities with many time constraints.Prior experience in industrial facilities management and/or machinery/equipment management role.Ability to establish good working relationships with all levels of personnel throughout the entire organization.Skills/Competencies:Detail-oriented with an ability to solve problems.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Proficiency with computer usage, specifically spreadsheets: word processing and database programs as well as experience with PM systems and having a working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to troubleshoot equipment and seek out information needed to resolve issues.Work Conditions May use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, gloves, steal toe / composite toed shoes etc. per Viant policies and safe work procedures.Working with cutting & machining fluids, solvents, lubricants and other hazardous chemicals using appropriate safety controls. Employees are expected to attend safety training and participate in hazard analysis and resolution.
