Job Title: Support Worker / Personal Support Specialist (PSS) Pay Range: $18 – $25 per hour (based on experience & certification) Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Flexible Schedule Location: York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Kennebec, and Sagadahoc Counties Company: Maine Happy Homecare LLC Job Summary As a Support Worker / Personal Support Specialist (PSS), you will play a vital role in improving the quality of life for individuals in need of care and daily support. Your compassion and dedication will empower clients to maintain independence, safety, and dignity within their own homes. You’ll work directly with clients in private residences, assisted living settings, or group homes — providing personal care, companionship, and essential daily assistance that truly makes a difference. What You’ll Do Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility Support clients with meal preparation, feeding, and dietary needs Offer companionship and emotional support, fostering a positive, caring environment Monitor and document client progress, behavior, and overall well-being Perform light housekeeping and laundry to ensure a clean, safe home environment Administer medications per care plan while following HIPAA and confidentiality standards Safely use lifts and transfer equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary Collaborate with healthcare professionals, case managers, and family members to ensure personalized, consistent care Basic Qualifications Experience providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities, memory loss, Alzheimer’s, or dementia PSS certification (or willingness to obtain — training available) First Aid and CPR certification (if applicable) Strong communication and observational skills Dependable, professional, and compassionate personality Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care environments Familiarity with direct support practices or social work principles Ability to lift or assist clients with mobility equipment when required Why You’ll Love It Here At Maine Happy Homecare LLC, we believe that caregivers deserve to feel valued and supported — just like the clients we serve.
