Mechanical Design Engineer – Generator Enclosures Location: Houston, TX Company: Gulfstream Container Position Overview: Gulfstream Container is seeking a Mechanical Drafter to support generator enclosure projects from early layout through fabrication. This role is heavily drawing-focused and involves creating General Arrangement (GA) drawings as well as converting approved GA drawings into detailed, fabrication-ready shop drawings. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with generator enclosure manufacturing and is comfortable producing drawings full-time in both 2D and 3D CAD environments. Key Responsibilities: Create General Arrangement (GA) drawings for containerized and walk-in generator enclosures based on customer requirements and equipment data Convert approved GA drawings into detailed shop drawings suitable for fabrication and assembly Produce 2D and 3D drawings for enclosure structures, structural steel, sheet metal panels, doors, louvers, fuel tanks, and accessories Generate assembly drawings, sections, details, and BOMs as required for shop use Incorporate redlines, revisions, and as-built updates throughout the project lifecycle Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and shop personnel to resolve drawing questions and ensure constructability Ensure drawings are accurate, clear, and aligned with fabrication methods to minimize rework Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and organized file management Required Qualifications: Proven experience as a mechanical drafter in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Strong proficiency in both 2D and 3D CAD software Experience creating GA drawings and developing them into fabrication-ready shop drawings Understanding of structural steel and sheet metal fabrication practices Ability to interpret customer specifications, equipment data, and redlines Comfortable working closely with shop floor personnel Preferred Qualifications: Experience with generator enclosures or power generation equipment Familiarity with containerized enclosures and sound-attenuated designs Experience with industrial enclosures, skids, or heavy equipment packaging Basic understanding of airflow, exhaust routing, and enclosure layout What We Offer: Competitive compensation based on experience Full-time, production-driven drafting role with consistent workload Direct collaboration with fabrication and production teams Long-term opportunity with a growing, family-owned manufacturer Pay: From $85,000.00 per year Benefits: 401(k) Flexible schedule Health insurance Paid time off Work Location: In person
