Join a company where your contributions help move the world forward—one shipment at a time.About The PositionThe Director of IT Development will be responsible for providing long term planning, integration and management of key IT functions. This role brings together the development and software quality assurance under one leader with the intention of further increasing the strategic and operational effectiveness, efficiency and speed of these critical functions. This position provides leadership over critical support functions for the IT organization including Integration, Software Quality Assurance and Software Development. The Director of IT Development will play a crucial role on the IT Leadership Team to ensure that resources are aligned to support the overall strategic direction of the organization and to strengthen the organizational functioning of this team.FunctionsManage and govern IT functions relate to software development and testing leading to IT cost efficiencies, leveraging economy of scale and increasing responsiveness as well as accelerating business and IT transformation.Provide leadership and management of the organization’s development and software testing functions, to ensure the overall performance and achievement of Kenco’s strategy, and strategic plan ensuring that our support services enable quality execution.Manages the IT development life cycle strategy and planning to ensure a high standard of performance.Oversees the Enterprise Architecture function, including planning for future state architecture, including unit roadmaps, IT application roadmaps, and the architecture plan to ensure that the plans are integrated across technology groups.Increase the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the development and software testing teams to help position Kenco as a partner of choice in a very competitive 3PL landscape.Provide key data and information for the executive team to make complex organizational and strategic decisions based on the right analysis, synthesis, and interpretation of data and trends.Prioritizes programs and projects based on changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies.Communicates status of the project and program portfolio to relevant stakeholders.Oversees IT budgeting and cost estimation approaches, resource allocation, and reallocation for cost-optimization.Project management oversight on strategic initiatives as well as implementation projects.Management of and reporting on IT development metrics.Develop & Maintain detailed quality assurance processes and procedures.Oversees the development and review of organization-wide quality control policies and processes in line with business strategy.Establishes the strategic plan, processes/procedures and policies for the Software QA/QC group in alignment with company policies and goals.Builds and coaches the Software QA/QC team, plans and directs work activities, and ensures that responsibilities, goals and objectives are accomplished efficiently, completely, and within established timeframes.Works with product development teams to establish quality requirements for individual products, embeds Software QA/QC controls into development workflows, and ensures that all products comply with regulatory and company standards.Works to automate Software QA processes where possible to increase operational efficiency.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar related fields required or equivalent years of experience required. Equivalent years of experience is defined as one year of professional experience for each year of college requested.Minimum of 10 years of management experience in Information Technology with a minimum of 4 years as a Senior Manager.This role requires strong IT domain expertise, a very collaborative working style, and the ability to get things done in a matrixed organization.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to work effectively with all organizational levelsFosters and builds a collaborative working relationship with various stakeholders within IT and outside of IT.Proven track record of successful team leadership and development.Strong project and technical management skills.In-depth knowledge of all phases of IT system development lifecycle, including quality assurance and support.Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to make effective presentations, and proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders.Hands-on experience in project/portfolio resource planning, reporting, prioritization, and budgetingCompetenciesCollaborative Leadership - Knows how to get things done through formal channels and the informal network while instilling a sense of purpose in others; sees connection to larger purposes Communicate for Impact - Devoting the time and resources necessary to communicate the strategic vision, direction, priorities, and progress of the team for which you are responsibleCustomer Relationship Building - Having an intimate knowledge of the customer's changing needs and the ability to produce rapid results in all areasFinancial Acumen - Maintains and applies a broad understanding of financial management principles to ensure decisions are fiscally sound, responsible, and are strategically alignedLeading Change - Ability to develop and implement an organizational strategy and to incorporate it into the organization’s long-term goals.
