This role provides essential patient care and mobility support, working closely with Nursing leadership and in partnership with Physical and Occupational Therapy to promote safety, comfort, and restorative healing for our acute care population.The Mobility Care Attendant delivers hands‑on patient care and observation services in accordance with established policies and procedures, supporting high‑quality, compassionate care while consistently modeling UPMC’s core values.a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; }Key ResponsibilitiesProvide direct patient care and observation as directed by the RN, including:Activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, feeding, toileting, dressing, grooming, and transportingAmbulating, turning, repositioning, and assisting with mobility plansAssisting with intake and output, daily weights, and patient comfort measuresPartner with Physical and Occupational Therapy to support mobility assessments, daily care plans, and patient progressCoach and safely ambulate patients according to individualized treatment plansMaintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic patient environment through routine safety checks, room organization, linen changes, and equipment cleaningProvide fall prevention support, constant observation, and one‑on‑one supervision/companionship when neededMonitor patient status and promptly report changes or concerns to the RNInteract regularly with patients and families, providing reassurance and supportDeliver patient nourishments, assist with meal trays, and distribute patient items as appropriateObtain, stock, and distribute supplies and patient‑care equipment within role scopeAssist with basic clerical tasks and unit support activities, including responding to phones and supporting patient transportEnsure compliance with all safety policies and procedures, including standard precautions and bloodborne pathogen protocolsRespond appropriately to emergent situations within the scope of the Care Attendant roleReport equipment malfunctions and support efficient unit operationsDemonstrate effective communication, teamwork, accountability, and respect in all interactionsActively participate in feedback, learning, and performance improvement activitiesPerform system‑wide competencies/behaviors and other duties as assignedOther duties as assignedIf no previous patient care training, successful completion of UPMC care attendant(sitter) training program is requiredKnowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
