In this contract, remote role, you will architect and implement robust backend services in Python, integrate third-party APIs and data sources, and build scalable, secure web applications. You will collaborate with product, data, and UX teams to translate complex disinformation-detection requirements into practical technical solutions. On a day-to-day basis, you will write clean, testable code, participate in code reviews, optimize performance, and troubleshoot production issues. You will also contribute to technical documentation, propose improvements to the platform’s architecture, and mentor team members on Python best practices and full-stack development patterns.Qualifications Strong Python expertise for backend development, including experience with one or more web frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, FastAPI) and building RESTful or GraphQL APIs.Full-stack skills covering modern frontend technologies (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Vue, or similar) and core web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, responsive UI development).Experience with databases and data layers, including relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), ORMs, and familiarity with NoSQL or search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, MongoDB) is preferred.Proficiency in software engineering practices such as version control (Git), automated testing (unit/integration), CI/CD pipelines, and code review workflows.Background in building cloud-native applications using services from AWS, GCP, or Azure, including containerization (Docker) and basic orchestration concepts.Ability to design secure, performant, and scalable architectures, with attention to data privacy, API security, and efficient data processing.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to break down complex requirements related to content verification and disinformation detection.Effective written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working in a fully remote
