Lead Quality Engineer

The successful candidate will provide leadership and technical expertise toidentify, resolve, and eliminate quality issues and problems. Primary focus willbe to work with assigned manufacturing departments on quality related issues.BASIC PURPOSE:The Lead Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing quality assuranceactivities for precision-machined aerospace shells and electrical/mechanicalcontacts. This role provides technical leadership in roaming inspections, rootcause analysis, and continuous improvement, ensuring compliance with AS9100,customer requirements, and regulatory standards. The position also serves as theprimary quality interface between manufacturing, engineering, and customers.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer specifications, and aerospaceregulatory requirementsLead quality engineering activities for CNC-machined shells and contacts,including roaming inspectionDefine and validate inspection methods, including CMM programming, GD&Tinterpretation, and gauge selectionConduct Quality audits when appropriate and when assigned.Lead root cause analysis using structured methods (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, SPC)Drive corrective and preventive actions for nonconformances, escapes, andcustomer complaintsMaintain employee time keeping and schedule overtime and vacation scheduleas required by workload.Serve as the primary quality contact for customer quality issues, audits,and performance reviewsAnalyze quality data (SPC, scrap, yield, rework) and lead improvementinitiativesDrive cost of poor quality (COPQ) reduction initiativesSupport Lean and Six Sigma projects related to machining quality andinspection efficiencyCOMPETENCIES:Demonstrated competency in AS9100 quality systems, precision machining, GD&T,and inspection methods, with strong problem-solving and risk-baseddecision-making skills. Ability to lead audits, manage nonconformances, drivecorrective actions, and influence cross-functional teams while upholding thehighest standards of quality and product integrity in aerospace manufacturingEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or arelated field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Minimumof 3 years of quality engineering experience in the aerospace industry, withdemonstrated expertise in precision CNC machining, GD&T, and AS9100 qualitysystems. Proven experience leading quality activities, supporting audits, anddriving corrective actions in a machining-focused production environment.Experience with aerospace shells, contacts, or electrical connectors ispreferred.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical demands of the job, bending, sitting, typing, lifting, standing, etc.,Daily could be up to a total of 4-5 hours total for anyone.
