Traveling HVAC Commissioning TechnicianWe are seeking a Traveling HVAC Commissioning Technician to perform startup, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC systems on new construction and retrofit projects.This role focuses primarily on commercial rooftop packaged systems (RTUs) and occasionally split systems, ensuring equipment is installed correctly, operates according to manufacturer specifications, and performs efficiently before final turnover to the customer.Technicians typically work approximately 55 hours per week, providing strong earning potential through consistent overtime opportunities.You will collaborate closely with project managers, mechanical contractors, and controls teams to verify system operation and resolve startup or performance issues.The company provides a service vehicle, tools, and manufacturer training opportunities to help technicians expand their expertise with commercial HVAC equipment.Key ResponsibilitiesHVAC Commissioning & StartupPerform startup and commissioning of commercial rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, gas/electric systems, and heat pump systemsVerify proper installation, wiring, airflow, and refrigerant chargeEnsure equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications and design requirementsSystem Testing & TroubleshootingConduct functional performance testing of HVAC systemsMeasure airflow, temperature differentials, static pressure, and electrical performanceDiagnose and resolve electrical, refrigeration, and airflow-related issues during startupControls & System VerificationConfirm operation of economizers, dampers, sensors, and system controlsWork with controls technicians and BAS teams to verify proper system integrationDocumentationComplete commissioning reports, startup documentation, and system checklistsRecord system performance data and testing resultsCommunicate installation issues or deficiencies to project teamsQualificationsMinimum 3 years of commercial HVAC experience OR experience performing HVAC commissioning or commercial service workExperience working with commercial rooftop units (RTUs)Ability to troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, and airflow issuesAbility to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagramsEPA Certification preferredValid driver's licenseWillingness to travel for project assignmentsWhat's OfferedUp to $40/hour base payConsistent overtime (approximately 55 hours per week)Typical weekly earnings around $2,500Annual earnings potential of $115K$130K+Company-provided vehicle and toolsCompany-paid travel and hotel accommodationsManufacturer training opportunitiesExposure to large-scale commercial HVAC installationsIf you are an HVAC technician who enjoys travel, project-based work, and solving complex system challenges, this opportunity offers excellent earning potential and strong technical growth.
