Forklift Mechanic
Description
The Forklift Mechanic will perform preventive maintenance and all routine maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained and running in good condition using safe work habits.
Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic problems and complex electrical problems will be required.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in multi maintenance experience with an industrial environment preferred.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections and service.
Working knowledge of gasoline and propane engines.
Must be able to fuel refrigerated trailers with diesel.
Must have a working knowledge of Electric Forklifts.
Good basic math skills (including percentages, fractions and decimals) are required.
Must follow company policies and procedures including adherence to safe work practices.
A demonstrated ability to adapt to overlapping demands and interruptions is essential.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of walking and standing, able to lift up to 50 or more and to crouch and/or crawl in confined areas.
Must be able to work in an environment that has exposure to chemical smells, dust, dirt and including extreme heat and cold, as well as in a noisy environment.
Requirements
This position has the following requirements:
High School diploma or GED certificate.
Associates degree or equivalent from 2-year college or technical school preferred.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in vehicle mechanics including gasoline and propane engine repair and rebuilding.
Strong communication skills are required interact with customers, vendors and equipment factory representatives.
Auto air conditioning repair.
Propane gas fitters license preferred.
Forklift certification. (Harry & David will certify)
Automotive diagnostic computer skills.
Advanced welding skills (overhead, vertical, bracing, silver solder, stick and wire feed) are essential.
Must have a valid Oregon’s Driver’s license and pass a driver record review.
This is a safety-sensitive position subject to initial and follow-up drug testing.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule with some overtime and weekends.
