This organization designs and integrates high-value robotic and automated systems that are deployed across North America, leveraging advanced control architectures and standardized PLC platforms.Role OverviewThis role is best suited for an engineer who is strong in understanding and analyzing PLC-based systems, with a focus on troubleshooting, logic interpretation, and structured modifications rather than full ground-up programming.The successful candidate will work within established automation frameworks and "master" architectures, supporting system optimization, diagnostics, and commissioning activities.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and interpret PLC logic, HMI interfaces, and control system architectureTroubleshoot software-level issues within automated industrial systemsSupport optimization and performance improvements of existing automation programsModify and adapt PLC programs within standardized architectures (not full development from scratch)Participate in equipment commissioning at company facilities and customer sites across North AmericaSupport field teams and customers with technical troubleshooting and system understandingCollaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure system reliability and performanceThis position is not primarily focused on building PLC programs from scratch. Instead, the emphasis is on:Reading and understanding existing PLC logicTroubleshooting sequences and system behaviorMaking structured, controlled modifications to existing programsWorking within established automation standards and architecturesRequired Skills & ExperienceExperience in industrial automation or controls engineering environmentsAbility to read, analyze, and interpret PLC code and control logicHands-on experience with troubleshooting automation systems at the software levelFamiliarity with industrial systems such as pneumatics, hydraulics, servomechanisms, and roboticsExposure to Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens platforms (strong asset)Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving abilitiesTechnical degree in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Controls, or related field (or equivalent experience)Willingness to travel regularly across North America (15-20%)Ideal Candidate ProfileThe strongest candidates will be able to clearly articulate:How they diagnose and troubleshoot PLC logic issuesExamples of modifying or adapting existing programsTheir structured approach to problem-solving in automation environmentsComfort working within pre-existing control architecturesClear, logical communication of technical reasoning
