If applicable, this individual will hold any site-specificlicensing (DEA, BOP, etc.). This individual possesses a deeper knowledge of processes and operations related to their site and often servesas the primary contact for site-specific staff and pharmacy/nursing leadership. This includes ownership of the pharmacy space to make sure itmeets all regulatory requirements. Actively engages in and leads appropriate hospital and/or departmental committees relevant to site andassists with creation and implementation of workflows related to their site. Responsible for all aspects of the Staff Pharmacist 2 role inaddition to further involvement in teaching, educational, supervisory, and quality improvement activities within operational practice area.Responsible for verifying new medication orders, checking prepared medications, overseeing dispensing from the pharmacy, and completingclinical patient review for safety and accuracy. Provides safe, efficient, high quality, patient-centered, and evidence-based medication servicesto all patients. In cooperation with other pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, acts as a resource and provides answers to drug informationquestions for patients and family members, pharmacists, nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers, medical students, undergraduateand graduate pharmacy students, and other associated hospital personnel. Screens for drug-drug, drug-herb/dietary supplement, drug allergy,drug-food, drug-disease state, and drug-laboratory interactions. Engages in appropriate hospital and/or departmental committeesrelevant to practice area.Position SummaryThis position functions to coordinate all aspects of patients' pharmaceutical needs at The Ohio State University WexnerMedical Center with additional responsibility to act as representative of their site through involvement in teaching, educational, supervisory,and quality improvement activities Duties include, but are not limited to, medication order approval and distribution; assurance of appropriatedose, route, frequency, and duration of therapy; clinical profile review to assess safety and accuracy of medication services; patientmedication profile review for drug-drug interactions, duplication of therapy, drug allergies and appropriate regimens; coordination of patients'pharmaceutical needs with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nurses. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skillsnecessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. This position is also responsible for overseeing technicians,undergraduate and graduate student teaching, and providing educational programs for hospital staff.
