Senior Manager - Electrical Engineering
Your Tasks:The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for the engineering of necessary software to operate electrostatic painting systems using robotic automation. This is a front-line role with the customer that requires a strong character to deal with customers in potentially stressful situations. The positions require extensive experience with paint application controls and methods used in the automotive industry. The software manager further coordinates with engineering, installations and AMS teams.Propose hiring and termination of department employees; perform employee evaluations.Provides guidance to subordinate engineers to ensure technical compliance with project requirements.Develop and implement training programs for commissioning personnel to stay abreast of latest technical trends.Plans and delegate software engineering tasks to engineers and manages team within defined schedule and budgetProvides guidance for troubleshooting of technical problems associated with electrostatic painting equipment.Meets directly with external customers via meetings, conference calls, etc.Plans and approves travel of engineers to customer sites.Approves timesheets and expense reports of engineersSupports project scheduling, assigns resources and assists with manpower loading reportsEnsure all necessary base line and documentation requirements are met, filed correctly and conform to standard templates.Prepare project status reports and management summaries.Must be dependable and flexible for local and international travel to participate in meetings related to specific departments and projectsGenerates technical reports and testing for globally funded R&D projects.Travel approximately 50% including weekends and holidays.Your Skills:Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Software Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in Software EngineeringFive to ten years of experience with automotive paint application systems.Understanding of Quality systems, ie. ISO 9000, QS 9000, ISO 14001.Experience in automative robotic installation, preferably paint application.Proficient with software and controls for robotic and flexible automation systems (kinematics equations and Motion, Sensors, Measurement and Perception, Control, Programming)Proficient with pneumatics for robotic and paint circulations systemsProficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge of SAP is a plusProficient with electronic schedulingAbility to understand and maintain project schedulesAble to delegate tasks to department employeesDemonstrated leadership skillsDemonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as requiredGood Technical AcumenGood time management skillsGood organizational skillsGood verbal communication skillsGood technical writing skillsAble to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customersAble to work well independently and in a team environmentAble to technically define problems and propose solutionsAdaptable to change in a learning environmentWilling and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
