JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Payroll Manager leads and actively contributes to enterprise payroll operations, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for all employees. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in the details, can navigate complex payroll challenges, and is passionate about continuously improving processes while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality.RESPONSIBILITIESLead, coach, and develop the payroll team by setting clear expectations, delegating effectively, and ensuring timely, accurate payroll processingTake a hands-on approach to payroll operations, including troubleshooting systems and resolving complex payroll issuesManage and optimize payroll systems, including Oracle Cloud Payroll and Labor Management Systems, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutionsPartner with the People team to analyze payroll trends and recommend process improvements that enhance efficiency and accuracyPrepare, audit, and reconcile payroll reports and statements with a strong focus on complianceMaintain and update payroll policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with union agreements and regulatory requirementsStay current on federal, state, and local payroll laws, applying updates to processes as neededTravel up to 20% to support on-site payroll operations, training, and issue resolutionPerform additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONSEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification4 or more years of experience processing in-house payroll for a multi-state organization with 1,000+ employees, including union populationsStrong experience in payroll problem-solving, systems troubleshooting, and process improvementProven ability to manage competing priorities in a detail-oriented environmentKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsDemonstrated success leading teams in a fast-paced environmentIn-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulationsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organizationHigh level of accuracy, discretion, and confidentialityBase Pay InformationThe national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications.
