Software DeveloperManufacturing Environment Location: Beachwood About the RoleThis is an exciting entry-level opportunity for an emerging software developer to join a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment. Working directly within APT's operations and technology team, you will help design, build, and maintain software solutions that support manufacturing workflows, internal business systems, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role is ideal for someone early in their career who is eager to apply their technical skills in a real-world industrial setting where quality, uptime, and accuracy are non-negotiable.Key ResponsibilitiesSoftware DevelopmentDesign, develop, test, and maintain web-based applications and internal business tools using .NET (C#) and related Microsoft technologies.Build and consume RESTful APIs to support integration between manufacturing systems, ERP platforms, and web-based front ends.Write clean, well-documented SQL queries and stored procedures to manage and retrieve data from relational databases.Collaborate with operations, quality, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into functional software solutions.Assist in troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing existing applications to improve performance and reliability.Manufacturing Systems SupportSupport software tools and systems used on the shop floor, including data collection, production tracking, and reporting applications.Assist with integrating software systems with manufacturing equipment, IIoT devices, and connected shop-floor technologies.Collaborate with the operations team to identify and implement process improvements through software automation and tooling.Quality, Compliance & DocumentationMaintain thorough documentation of application code, system configurations, and software change activity.Support compliance with applicable cybersecurity and data handling requirements, including ITAR and DFARS, as they relate to software systems.Work cooperatively across departments in a supportive, team-oriented environment.QualificationsRequired2–9 years of professional or academic software development experience.Proficiency in .NET and C# including object-oriented programming principles and design patterns.Working knowledge of SQL ability to write queries, joins, and stored procedures against relational databases.Familiarity with web-based technologies HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or modern front-end frameworks.Experience building or consuming RESTful APIs.Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment (internship, co-op, or full-time) this is essential.Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.Good written and verbal communication skills; able to work with both technical and non-technical colleagues.PreferredExperience with Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, or similar cloud/DevOps environments.Familiarity with ERP systems commonly used in manufacturing environments (e.g., SAP, Epicor, or similar).Exposure to IIoT devices, sensors, or networked manufacturing equipment.Experience with version control systems such as Git.Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks including NIST SP 800-171 or CMMC as they apply to software systems.Experience in aerospace, defense, medical, or other regulated manufacturing industries is a plus.Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
