The University of Texas Permian Basin Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering welcomes applications for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Computer Science The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026.Salary Range$72,000.00 depending on qualificationsEssential FunctionsThe College of Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas Permian Basin invitesapplications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Computer Science. We are seeking passionateeducators dedicated to engaging undergraduate students through dynamic, high-qualityinstruction in both face-to-face and online settings. This non-tenure-track, full-time position isoffered on a nine-month contract, with opportunities for summer teaching. The successfulcandidate will play a key role in supporting student learning, contributing to curriculumdevelopment, and advancing the University's mission to provide exceptional educationalexperiences in the computer science. Candidates with AI teaching experience will be preferred.UT Permian Basin supports faculty growth through the Heimmermann Center for EngagedTeaching, which provides resources for pedagogical innovation and professional development.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student success, collaborative teaching,and continuous improvement in instructional practiceTeach up to 30-32 credit hours per contract year (maximum 16 SCH per semester).Employ sound pedagogical practices and utilize appropriate instructional technology.Achieve measurable student-learning outcomes in all courses taught.Advise and mentor students to support academic progress, professional preparation,and success in graduate study or research.Collect assessment data in the assigned courses to meet the assessment requirements.Provide individual support to students during weekly office hours.Participate in course and curriculum revisions and assist with program development asassigned.* Complete student course evaluations for all courses taught.* Abide by deadlines and institutional policies for grading, assessment, and coursedocumentation.* Collaborate with colleagues and department leadership to advance the ComputerScience program and support institutional goals.Provide support to students in need of academic improvement.Engage in departmental and university service as appropriate.The job description is not a complete list of all responsibilities and duties performed byemployees. Ph.D. for Senior Lecturer or MS degree for Lecturer in computer science, or a closely relatedarea.2. Ability to teach freshman to junior level courses needed.3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.Preferred Qualifications1. College-level teaching experience, which may include teaching labs as a graduate student.2. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning, evening, and on weekends to meet the needs of the department. Faculty hours may differ based on class schedule and department need.Standard Working Conditions1. Able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.2. Able to bend, crouch, and reach continuously.3. Physically able remain seated, frequently to continuously.4. Able to remain standing up to 15% of the time.5. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform job duties including extensive keyboard work, operating office equipment, performing filing, and other job-related responsibilities that include extensive wrist and hand movement.6.
