Hospital Salad AideThe Hospital Salad Aide will assist in the preparation and serving of fresh salads and other cold food items for patients, staff, and visitors. This role plays a key part in ensuring that healthy, nutritious, and appetizing salads are prepared and served in compliance with dietary guidelines and healthcare standards. The Salad Aide will also maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and salad preparation areas.
Key Responsibilities:Prepare and assemble a variety of fresh salads and cold food items according to recipes and patient dietary requirements.
Wash, peel, chop, and prepare fruits and vegetables for salads and other cold dishes.
Ensure that all salads and cold items are presented attractively and meet the hospital's food safety and quality standards.
Portion out salad ingredients and assist in packaging meals for patients and staff.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of salad preparation area, including countertops, sinks, and equipment.
Assist with inventory management, ensuring adequate stock of salad ingredients and other supplies.
Adhere to food safety and sanitation practices, including proper handwashing and the safe use of kitchen equipment.
Follow hospital protocols for handling dietary restrictions and allergies when preparing salads and other food items.
Assist the kitchen staff in other food prep and service tasks as needed.
Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a food service or hospital kitchen setting is preferred but not required.
Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Physical Demands:Ability to bend, lift, and carry items up to 25 lbs.
Standing for long periods during the preparation and serving of food.
Manual dexterity required for chopping, slicing, and preparing food.
Work Schedule:Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, depending on the needs of the hospital.
