Meyer Utility Structures is searching for a Senior Level Welding School Instructor. In this role, you will provide the Clinton, IL utility pole manufacturing plant with welding and technical support such as perform welding training on the shop floor and in a classroom setting as required, conduct classrooom and welding process troubleshooting, process improvement and procedure and code conformance. The Welding School Instructor will have strong hands-on welding skills, visual weld inspection experience and experience using welding procedure specifications.Meyer Utility Structures is a proud subsidiary of the infrastructure company, Arcosa, Inc. Meyer Utility Structures is an industry leader in the engineering design and fabrication of concrete and tubular steel structures for transmission, distribution, and substation applications.What You'll Do:As the welding subject matter expert, provide welding support to production welders, supervisors, and other plant personnelTroubleshoot welding technique and routine equipment issuesPerform routine tasks such as maintain welder continuity, welding equipment calibration, and flux oven logsEvaluate, propose, and implement welding process improvements to increase welding efficiency and qualityPerform welding training on the shop floor and in a classroom setting as requiredAssist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as requiredParticipate in internal improvement teams/other duties as requiredOversee the daily pole school operationsMaintain welder candidate training, testing and qualification recordsPerform hands on welder candidate training for the FCAW, SAW, SMAW, plasma/oxyfuel cutting, and air-carbon-arc gouging processesConduct classroom training on welding safety, welding and cutting processes, visual weld acceptance criteria, welding symbols, drawings, etc.Perform hands on, pole layout and fit up trainingProvide additional training (OJT) to production welders as requiredAssist in qualifying welding procedure specifications as requiredParticipate in welding improvement projects/other duties as requiredWhat You'll Need:AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWE) desired5+ years FCAW, SAW, and SMAW welding experienceProficient using various weld inspection tools such as amp/volt/wire feed/gas flow meters, fillet weld gages, undercut gages, etc.Welding related associate degree desiredAbitlity to read and comprehend welding symbols, welding procedure specifications, work instructions, drawings, bill of materials, etc.Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding procedure specificationWorking knowledge of weld filler materials and base materialsMust possess excellent written and oral communication skillsRegular and predictable attendance, a great attitude with the ability to work well with a team toward achieving a common goalCompensation and Benefits:Meyer Utility Structures is proud to offer competitive benefits and programs to help you and your family meet your healthcare and retirement planning needs.
