Carrier Procurement Representative
DescriptionTHE POSITIONUnder the direction of the Carrier Procurement Manager the Carrier Procurement Representative is responsible for securing capacity for all Truckload orders as well as providing estimated pricing. The Carrier Procurement Rep. will use carrier analytics and other tools to guide negotiations and buying decisions to meet the transportation needs of our customers.Essential Functions Of The RoleDevelop carrier relationships to effectively support our customersSend and Receive Rate ConfirmationsProvide rate feedback to Truckload Account ManagersManage load postings, coordinate inbound and outbound calling to carriersSend BOL and ETA to Truckload Account Managers and Managed Account ManagersCover all freight in assigned region and assist with overflow/PTO challenged shipmentsConduct consistent lane research daily and enter info obtained into the MCL Tool or future program that replaces MCLUtilize carrier analytics and other internal resources to make informed buying decisionsMaintain and grow relationships with carrier accounts including conducting account reviews and identifying opportunities for additional collaborationResolve problems, including identifying issues, thinking critically to determine the best course of action, and implementing solutionsDaily contact with carriers to determine availability and negotiate transportation ratesProvide consistent and exceptional service levels to contracted carriers and internal customersResearch new carriers in the marketplace, generate leads, develop new carrier relationships and assist with onboarding new carriersUnderstand the technology platform and drive automationLeverage technology to secure carriers for customer shipmentsStudy and understand market trends and seasonalityAssist in claims process, collecting necessary documents and relaying appropriate information to Evans’ Claim DepartmentProvide tracking and tracing information throughout the life of the order as required by the customer through communication with the carrierAdhere to Evans’ Five Guiding Principles, Policies, Procedures and Employee HandbookAll other duties that may be reasonably assigned, including special projects and cross-training in other departmentsQualifications/RequirementsBachelor's degree preferredRelated experienceStrong ability to persuade, motivate, negotiate, and influence othersAbility to thrive under deadlines and work in a team environment, while also delivering independent resultsExcellent communication skills, verbal and writtenDriven, enthusiastic, and highly motivatedAbility to build strong relationshipsStrong organization skills, prioritization skills, and works with a sense of urgencyHigh attention to detail and ability to multitaskExceptional customer service skillsProven problem-solving and analytical skillsExperience with transportation management systems, Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook as well as the ability and willingness to learn new softwareSpeak and write in English fluentlyWORK ENVIRONMENTThe typical work environment is fast-paced and moderately quiet. Regular use of office equipment is expected, including computer, fax machines, and telephone. Employees may be required to lift on occasion up to 10 pounds. This position is required to sit at a workstation for up to 8 hours a day.
