GPU Infrastructure Engineer

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced GPU Infrastructure Engineer for our client, an innovative startup leading the future of AI infrastructure! This is a full-time, direct-hire position with a hybrid schedule in San Francisco. POSITION OVERVIEW Responsible for spearheading the design, deployment, and optimization of high-performance GPU clusters that power frontier AI research and applications. PERKS Competitive annual salary up to $300k annually (depending on experience) + equity Work on groundbreaking AI infrastructure that accelerates research and commercial deployment of superintelligent systems Partner directly with innovative startups and industry leaders to develop expertise in managing some of the most advanced GPU systems available RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with clients and internal teams to design and implement scalable GPU cluster architectures supporting large-scale AI training, inference, and HPC workloads. Develop detailed deployment strategies and capacity plans for clusters ranging from hundreds to thousands of GPUs, ensuring optimal performance and scalability. Install, configure, and optimize orchestration systems such as SLURM and Kubernetes, along with high-performance networking solutions like InfiniBand, RoCE, and NVLink. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, providing operational support and creating documentation for ongoing management. QUALIFICATIONS 3+ years of hands-on experience with GPU clusters, HPC environments, and large-scale AI infrastructure. Extensive knowledge of SLURM, Kubernetes, and high-speed interconnects such as InfiniBand. Strong proficiency with NVIDIA GPU architecture, CUDA, drivers, and related tooling. Experience with automation tools like Ansible and Terraform, and scripting in Python and Bash. Familiarity with container runtimes (Docker, Containerd) and Linux kernel tuning for high-performance systems. Proven track record of deploying and supporting large-scale GPU systems (1000+ GPUs), including infrastructure from systems like NVIDIA DGX or HGX.
