Experienced Dog Trainer
Lily’s Play-N-Stay and Lily’s Rescue Rehab are seeking an experienced dog trainer with a strong background in enrichment-based training to help develop, expand, and represent our dog training program. This role combines hands-on training, program development, and community outreach, and is ideal for a professional trainer who is motivated to grow a training program while making a meaningful impact.
Position Overview
The Dog Trainer will be responsible for delivering enrichment-focused training services while actively contributing to the growth of the training program through community engagement, client interaction, and event participation. This position will work closely with leadership to expand training offerings and build relationships within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Help design and implement enrichment-based training activities for dogs of varying ages, temperaments, and behavioral needs
Provide hands-on training for daycare, boarding, and rehabilitation dogs
Support rescue and client dogs in developing skills that promote long-term adoption success
Actively grow the dog training program by engaging with the community, meeting and working with prospective clients, and representing the organization at events and outreach opportunities
Participate in and support training-related events, demonstrations, and educational opportunities
Collaborate with management to expand and refine training and enrichment programs, including both group and individual offerings
Educate and support staff on enrichment techniques, canine behavior, and handling best practices
Maintain appropriate training and enrichment documentation
Schedule Requirements
Flexibility to work days, evenings and weekends as needed, particularly for client sessions, events, and community outreach
Qualifications
Prior professional dog training experience required
Strong knowledge of canine behavior, body language, and enrichment principles
Experience with positive, reward-based training methods
Ability to work with dogs exhibiting fear, anxiety, or behavioral challenges
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including client-facing experience
Reliable, organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
Experience working with shelter, rescue, or rehabilitation dogs is a plus
Background in program growth, client engagement, or community outreach
Interest in long-term professional growth and leadership opportunities
