Senior Data Engineer - CockroachDB must
Data Engineer – CockroachDB Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.Deploy, configure, and administer CockroachDB clusters for high availability and fault tolerance.Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing, and schema design.Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and product teams to define data requirements.Ensure data integrity, security, backup, and disaster recovery across distributed environments.Build and maintain data models that support analytics and operational workloads.Monitor database health, troubleshoot production issues, and implement performance improvements.Automate database administration and deployment using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.Create technical documentation and establish best practices for database management.Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or Database Engineer.Strong hands-on experience with CockroachDB or other distributed SQL databases.Proficiency in SQL and database optimization techniques.Experience with Python, Java, or Scala.Knowledge of Apache Spark, Kafka, or similar big data technologies.Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.Strong understanding of distributed systems, replication, and consensus algorithms.Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Apple-scale distributed systems or enterprise-grade cloud platforms.Knowledge of data warehousing and modern data lake architectures.Experience with Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration tools.Cloud or database certifications are a plus.Key SkillsCockroachDBSQLData EngineeringETL/ELTDistributed DatabasesPythonApache SparkKafkaKubernetesDockerAWS / Azure / GCPCI/CDDatabase Performance TuningData ModelingLinuxGitMonitoring & Observability
