Successful candidates will have knowledge of soccer and will demonstrate effective coaching technique, leadership and mentoring skills; the ability to relate well within the school community; and the desire to provide an atmosphere conducive to good sportsmanship and high standards. The Coach will be required to perform other duties requested by the Director of Athletics and/or school administrator.Observe the rules of the PIAA, PIAA District 1, and the Bicentennial Athletic League (BAL)Provide leadership and general team management in the areas of daily practice, skills, and character developmentRemain current with theories and techniques in their sportAttend all coaches' meetings and collaborate with athletic director, head coach and assistant coach(es) and student managerEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletic administrators, students, parent body, and the communityEvaluate and assess players' skills and select team rostersResponsible for team equipmentKeep the scorebook current and availablePreferred - clean driving record and ability to drive 9 9-passenger vanReport areas of concern immediately to Athletic Directors - fields, transportation, facilities, opposing teams, student behavior, parent issues, etc.Initiate appropriate and regular communication with student-athletes and parentsFollow school procedures regarding transportation, injuries, participation, mealsReport and follow up with athletic trainer about injuriesWrite and submit individual comments on each student as scheduledManage athletes at the appropriate level of the assigned sportMonitor student-athlete academic progress and academic advisementEnforces the CCS Student Code of ConductPromotes good citizenship through actions as a role modelConducts himself or herself according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the schoolMaintains the highest level of confidentiality pertaining to school and students' information, progress, and recordsAbides by the CCS Employee Manual and all current PA Public School expectationsRequired QualificationsHigh school or collegiate playing experienceExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsA positive student-centered approach to coachingA strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse communityConsiderable knowledge of and experience coaching, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioningEffective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize workExperience working with middle and high school-aged studentsStrong affinity for the mission of Collegium Charter School and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values.Preferred QualificationsPrior soccer coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college levelExperience working with middle and high school-aged studentsDemonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sportDrivers License and the ability to drive a 9 passenger vehicleCPR and First Aid certifiedRequired Upon HireRequired Clearances include Criminal Background Clearance Act 34, Child Abuse Clearance Act 151, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Act 114, all dated within one year of anticipated start dateMeets criteria for employment in a PA Public SchoolFirst Aid CertifiedWork Environment and Physical DemandsThe mental and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
