OverviewA position has been declared open in the Weber School District for a Preschool Child Development Associate (CDA). This position is 5.70 hours per day (or its weekly aggregate equivalent), 9 months per year, and is compensated according to Lane 6(Q) of the Paraprofessionals Salary Schedule.Applicants shall apply at wsd.schoolspring.com. Files will be reviewed before interviews are scheduled.EMERGENCY HIRETHIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN FOR A MINIMUM OF 3 DAYS OR UNTIL FILLED.Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the school principal and with the support of the special education teacher, the CDA is responsible for the education of assigned preschool-age students and will create a flexible program and class environment favorable for learning and personal growth. The CDA will establish effective rapport with students; motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education, and do so in accordance with each student\'s ability. Professional relations will be developed and maintained with other staff and parents. Teaches subject matter, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Utah Board of Education, correlated with other appropriate learning activities: cognitive, physical, language and social emotional development for later academic and social success.The job of Preschool CDA includes the essential duties of providing direct instruction to students aged 3-5, including students with a range of disabilities.Essential functions include, but are not limited to:Plans and incorporates differentiated instruction in whole group, small group, and child-directed learning based on adopted curriculum and aligned with the Utah Core State Standards for Early LearningCreate and maintain a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environmentAdministers ongoing assessment of students' educational growth and developmental progress to inform instruction, including progress monitoring assessmentsCollect data regularly regarding skills across developmental domainsEffectively communicate information both verbally and in writing with parents and colleaguesMaintain confidentiality of all educational and special education student recordsCollaborate in the development and implementation of Individual Education Programs (IEPs)Implement positive behavior supports, behavior plans, and interventions as neededMaintains student files/records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable informationMonitors individual students, classroom, playground activities, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environmentSupervise staff assistants and provide appropriate coaching and feedbackShop/purchase (using delineated district purchasing procedures) materials and suppliesSupervise students loading/unloading busesAdminister assistance to medically fragile childrenAdminister medications to children under the direction of school nurseDemonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory CommissionConforms to district policies including attendance, absences and evaluationsAttendance must be adequate to acceptably perform listed job functionsPossesses problem solving skillsEstablishes and maintains effective working relationships with students, school staff, district staff, and patronsParticipates in ongoing, focused, and intensive professional developmentWorks with other personnel as needed for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activitiesPlans and incorporates family engagement, including ongoing communication between home and school, and parent education opportunities based on each family's circumstancesPerforms record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the administrator in providing records/materialsOther duties as assignedBasic Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds for the purpose of diapering, performing transfers, transitions, and position changesMust be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, bending, standing, and sitting in student-size chairs) for extended periods of timeMust be able to move from sitting on floor to standing position repeatedlyMust be able to utilize quick body movements to maintain safety and implement student behavior plansAdditional Requirements and/or QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalentValid Utah Child Development Associate (CDA) completed within 18 months of date of hire, or an associate or bachelor's degree in an Early Childhood Education related fieldExperience in a preschool or special education setting preferredWilling to participate in required district and school trainingsWEBER SCHOOL DISTRICT IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY (EEO) EMPLOYERJ-18808-Ljbffr
