Fleet - Mechanic

MN Star Tribune is seeking to hire a full-time Mechanic for our Fleet Department.The Mechanic performs scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to the trucks (light and heavy) and cargo vans.Disassembles and overhauls motors, transmissions, rear ends, electrical systems, and all other assemblies.The Mechanic works with a high degree of independence.Key Responsibilities:Diagnose failuresPerform preventative maintenanceMaintain vehicle records and completes necessary documentsAnswer road calls from driversReview driver's daily inspection slips (pre-trip & post-trip)The schedule includes nights and weekendsQualifications:MUST - Driver's license: CDL - A or CDL - BMechanical knowledge of gas, propane, and diesel repairExperience with hydraulic and air brake systemsKnowledge of internal combustible enginesProficient in using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computerASE Certification/Technical School a plus, but it's not required.Welding and fabrication experience is a plus, but it's not required.Schedule: 40-hour work weekStarting pay: This is a union position with a starting pay of $33.96Mechanic offers are contingent on the successful completion of a pre-employment physical, pre-employment drug screen, pre-employment employment verification, and pre-employment criminal background check.Benefits:Full benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and more!Paid Time Off (PTO)On-site fitness centerUniforms providedStable, year-round work with a long-standing companyWork for a company that values diversity, growth, and YOU.MN Star Tribune is committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace and encourages qualified applicants of all backgrounds to apply.
