Payroll Clerk

DescriptionWe are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to join an accounting team on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position. This position supports accurate and timely payroll tax operations, including 941 and 942 filings, while also assisting with payroll reporting and selected accounting tasks. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, eager to learn tax-related processes, and confident using payroll tools such as QuickBooks and Excel. *This is an in-office role in Chattanooga, Tennessee*Responsibilities:- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including tax filings, for multiple payrolls and entities in multiple states.- Prepare payroll-related reports and maintain supporting records to help meet internal and external reporting needs.- Review and administer employee garnishments and other payroll adjustments in compliance with applicable requirements.- Assist with quarterly payroll tax reporting, including support for Form 941 and exposure to related filings such as 942.- Reconcile payroll information with general ledger activity and contribute to routine accounting support functions.- Use QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel to organize payroll data, track calculations, and maintain accurate documentation.- Monitor payroll details for discrepancies, research issues promptly, and help resolve employee pay concerns efficiently.- Adapt to new procedures and priorities while maintaining productivity in a high-volume payroll environment.Please complete an application and call (423) 237-7921 for more information and consideration for this IMMEDIATE position!Requirements- Experience processing payroll with responsibility for full-cycle payroll activities.- Familiarity handling payroll for organizations with 101 to 500 employees.- Working knowledge of garnishments and standard payroll reporting practices.- Exposure to payroll tax filings, with Form 941 experience required.- Basic understanding of general accounting principles and account reconciliation.- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel for payroll and reporting tasks.- Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions well, and manage deadlines in a busy setting.**All candidates must undergo drug and background screening for considerationRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
