Tower Technician (Sioux Falls)

This is a hands-on field engineering role supporting high-performance wireless networks used in financial markets, where reliability and precision matter.You'll be part of a specialist team responsible for building and maintaining point-to-point microwave networks that underpin mission-critical infrastructure. This is not a desk job. It's for someone who enjoys being out in the field, working on towers, solving real problems, and continuously developing their technical skillset.The team is evolving, moving away from "jack of all trades" profiles and building a more structured split between field engineers and tower specialists. This role leans 80% ground-based engineering and 20% climbing, but you'll still need to be comfortable working at height.This is a contract-to-perm opportunity, offering long-term progression, training, and exposure to cutting-edge wireless infrastructure.Responsibilities:• Install, commission, and maintain microwave and wireless network infrastructure.• Respond to outages and troubleshoot network and hardware issues.• Work on towers, rooftops, and communication structures.• Support new builds and upgrades of existing infrastructure.• Perform fibre termination, cabling, and equipment installation.• Act as the on-site technical contact for subcontractors.• Produce clear daily reporting on work completed and issues encountered.• Participate in ongoing training and certification programmes.Skills / Must Have:• 2–3 years' experience in wireless or microwave networking.• Proven field engineering experience.• Minimum 2 years tower climbing experience.• Certified in an Authorized Climber / Rescue course.• Experience with installation and commissioning of network equipment.• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.• Valid US driver's license and passport.Nice to Have:• OSHA 10 certification.• Fibre splicing or cabling experience.• RF / microwave / millimetre wave experience.• Experience using spectrum analysers or similar tools.Working Pattern & Travel:• Field-based role with ~70% travel.• Occasional overnight stays required.• Mix of local and wider regional work.Benefits:• Company vehicle provided (kept at home).• All travel expenses covered.• Ongoing training and development (including climbing certifications).• Opportunity to work on high-performance, cutting-edge infrastructure.Salary:• $35–$45 per hour• 6-month contract to permanent pathwayProspective employer:A specialist engineering team supporting high-performance wireless infrastructure for technology-driven organisations operating in fast-paced, latency-sensitive environments.
