Systems Engineer

Job Overview: The Systems Engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. This individual will also manage and resolve system hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user training where required. This position works with the Infrastructure and Operations Manager on the implementation of new technologies. Working Conditions: Work will generally be performed using computer equipment in an indoor office environment. On-call and some after-hours work required. Sitting for extended periods. Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals. Responsibilities Create, implement, and maintain new/improved processes and standard work. Conduct research on systems and network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of system procurement and development efforts. Provides second-level technical support to users concerning system and network operations. Diagnoses problems with systems and network equipment and performs equipment repair or upgrades when appropriate. Installs configures and maintains servers and other networking equipment such as SANs, Switches, Routers, and UPS. Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly. Monitor data center health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise; help build, test, and maintain new servers as needed. Maintain internal infrastructure requirements including, servers, routers, switches, firewalls, printers, phones, security, telecommunications, and file and printing services. Deploy company system hardware such as Servers, SANs, Switching, and Routing devices. Handles multiple project responsibilities simultaneously to prioritize work and resolve technical emergencies as they may occur. Performs additional tasks as assigned by the Infrastructure and Operations Manager. Qualifications 5+ years of systems or network engineering experience, or a combination of education and experience. Senior-level knowledge of VM-Ware or Citrix virtualized environments. Experience with hyper-converged networking (Nutanix) or NSX-T or Datacenter a plus Senior-level knowledge and administration of Windows Server environments. Senior-level knowledge of Server and Storage Hardware. Senior-level knowledge and administration of Microsoft Azure. Experience with MFA/SSO such as Okta. Experience with VOIP solutions such as Mitel. Experience with enterprise networking environments running multiple VLANs a plus. Experience with enterprise networking equipment such as switches and routers a plus. Ability to install software and hardware on networking equipment and servers. Familiarity with a variety of networking and personal computer software Ability to communicate information to end-users, and management in a clear and concise manner. Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail. Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment. Strong customer service orientation. Ability and desire to work as a member of a team. MCSE, CCNA, Network +, Server+, VCP-DCV Certifications are a plus.
