Small Engine Technician - Mechanic

Job Description Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Small Engine Technician to join our family-owned and operated team. The ideal candidate will diagnose, service, and repair a diverse range of outdoor power equipment, including repairing lawn mowers, pressure washers, generators, tillers and other small equipment..Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnosis & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues in 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines.Equipment Servicing: Perform routine maintenance on equipment including lawn mowers (push and zero-turn), chainsaws, backpack blowers, trimmers, and tractors.Specialized Maintenance: Service Yanmar sub-compact tractors and industrial engines, including hydraulic system checks and diesel engine maintenance.Precision Work: Sharpen blades and chainsaw chains, replace spark plugs, clean carburetors, and perform oil/filter changes.Customer Interaction: Consult with customers to explain equipment issues, provide repair estimates, and offer advice on proper equipment operation and storage.Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of repairs performed, parts used, and warranty claim documentation where applicable.Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols regarding the handling of fuels, chemicals, and heavy machinery.Required QualificationsExperience: 2+ years of experience in small engine or automotive repair (experience with outdoor power equipment preferred).Brand Knowledge: Familiarity with STIHL, Husqvarna, Kawasaki, and Briggs & Stratton engines.Technical Skills: Ability to read schematics, use diagnostic software, and operate specialized tools (compression gauges, voltmeters, etc.).Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.Certification (Preferred): EETC (Equipment & Engine Training Council) certification or factory training from Husqvarna/STIHL is a major plus.Why Join Singletary Small Engines?Work with a friendly, knowledgeable staff in a well-established community dealership.Opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment from handheld blowers to agricultural tractors.Family-owned work environment focused on providing high-quality service to the Whiteville community.
