Product Development Engineer-Rollable Ribbon, Cable

Overview In this role you will drive the design and development of fiber optic cable products for datacenter applications. You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, cost-aware solutions and support manufacturing through hands-on product engineering. The position emphasizes project leadership, process optimization, and collaboration across facilities in Claremont and Catawba, NC. You will contribute to industry standards and help scale products to meet growing AI and bandwidth needs. ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement new fiber optic cable products, including material development, construction, and process optimizationManage projects using the company’s project management systemServe as technical contact for internal and external customers (domestic and international)Develop, schedule, and execute product projectsParticipate in industry standards developmentCreate cable test plans, analyze results, and generate reportsPursue cost reduction and innovation initiativesSupport factories across Claremont and Catawba facilities Key requirementsBachelor’s degree or higher in related technical engineering curriculum5+ years of experience in Inside Plant fiber optic cable design/manufacturing (intermittent bonded ribbon)Proficiency in project management and cross-functional collaborationStrong safety and quality principlesAbility to work independently and manage multiple projectsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication with manufacturing teams and stakeholdersCreativeAnalyticalInterpersonal communicationFiber optic cable design/manufacturing (intermittent bonded ribbon)Project managementCable testing and data analysis
