The ideal candidate will foster a positive team environment, promote sportsmanship, and enhance the skills of young athletes while instilling a love for the game of basketball.ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, and conduct daily basketball practices and training sessions.Develop and implement game strategies and playbooks tailored to the team's strengths and weaknesses.Oversee the recruitment and selection of team members, ensuring a fair and inclusive process.Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and promote a balance between athletics and academics.Foster teamwork, discipline, and respect among players, coaches, and officials.Coordinate and communicate with parents regarding team activities, schedules, and expectations.Schedule and manage game logistics, including transportation, equipment, and facilities.Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their skills.Collaborate with other coaches and school staff to promote the overall athletic program.Adhere to all school, district, and league policies and regulations regarding athletics.RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in education, sports management, or a related field is preferred.Previous coaching experience, particularly at the high school or youth level, is highly desirable.Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules of the game.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with players, parents, and staff.Ability to motivate and inspire young athletes while promoting a positive team culture.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing schedules and logistics.CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.Availability for afternoon and evening practices, games, and team events during the season.Applications accepted until filled.Pursuant to Public Act 68 of 1993 and Public Act 83 of 1995, selected new employees shall submit to fingerprints and a criminal background check at the employee's expense.It is the policy of the Board of Education that the District will not discriminate against any applicant or employee based on race, color, national origin, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, height, weight, familial status, marital status, military service, veteran status, genetic information, disability, or any other legally protected basis .
