As we expand rapidly across the U.S., Canada, and Europe, we’re building a team as ambitious as our mission: to help millions of students unlock their full potential in math.The RoleWe’re looking for a Senior Accountant to own accounting operations for our North American entities. You’ll be a foundational member of the finance team, reporting to the Group Controller and working closely with our VP Finance to deliver timely and accurate financial reporting for our US and Canadian operations.In this role, you’ll own the full accounting cycle – daily operations through period-end close and everything in between – partnering closely with RevOps, People, Sales, and Customer Success to build, maintain, and operate processes which ensure accurate financials and data reliability. While the business is well established in the U.S., we continue to grow our presence in the market and are actively expanding into Canada. This role will grow with the North American market. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with at least 4 years of experience who thrives in a high-ownership, fast-moving environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn the entire U.S. and Canadian accounting cycle covering everything from processing and recording individual transactions through period-end closing and group reportingPartner with the Group Controller on consolidation and group reporting deliverablesSupport external audit processes by preparing workpapers and coordinating with auditorsAssist and coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure that tax filings are accurate and timelyUse modern finance tools, data platforms, and AI-enabled workflows where appropriate to improve efficiency, accuracy, and insightMaintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls across the finance and accounting functionSupport revenue recognition in accordance with ASC 606/IFRS 15, working closely with RevOps and Sales to ensure contract and subscription is accurately reflectedManage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and timely processingWho You AreBachelor’s degree in AccountingMinimum 4 years of experience in accounting, with exposure to transaction processing, journal entry booking, month-end close, and financial reportingDetail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environmentComfortable operating independently with limited direction, and proactive about surfacing issues and driving solutionsClear, confident communicator who can work effectively across functions and with external stakeholdersWorking knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS principlesSaaS, subscription, or tech accounting experience is a strong plusHands-on experience with Rillet, Net Suite, or Sage Intacct is a plusBackground with the following or similar accounting, finance, and automation systems is a plus – Brex, Power Automate, YouniumFamiliarity with multi-entity, multi-currency accounting environments is a plusExposure to accounting process improvements, including automation, workflow refinement, or system changes is a plusWhy Magma MathPlay a key role in an exciting journey - we are a young company with ambitious targets and a mission that mattersHigh-ownership role with direct impact on a lean, ambitious finance teamExposure to international operations and group-level accounting across six countriesFantastic colleagues in a fun, collaborative environment with genuine opportunities to learn and growCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefitsAn opportunity to have an exceptional impact on education, society, and how children learn math across the worldReports to: Group ControllerSalary: $100,000 - $120,000 annually, plus comprehensive medical, PTO, and additional benefitsLocation: New York.
