Job Description Description:Executive ChefLocation: Sacramento, CAReports To: General Manager & OwnershipStatus: Full-Time | Salary ExemptLocated in the heart of Old Sacramento, The Firehouse Restaurant is a nationally recognized fine dining destination known for exceptional cuisine, elevated service, and a commitment to "Guests First".The Executive Chef is responsible for leading all kitchen operations, driving culinary excellence, and building a high-performing, accountable back-of-house team.This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring a leader who can elevate standards, develop talent, and elevate the guest experience.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & CultureLead, coach, and develop all BOH team membersEstablish clear standards for professionalism, communication, and accountabilityModel leadership aligned with The Firehouse valuesPartner with GM and the leadership team to drive alignment across FOH/BOHCulinary ExcellenceDesign and execute seasonal menus and daily featuresEnsure consistency in quality, presentation, and executionMaintain high-level standards for food safety and sanitationOperations & Financial ManagementManage food and labor costs to meet financial targetsOversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationshipsDevelop efficient kitchen systems and workflowsAnalyze performance and implement improvementsTeam DevelopmentRecruit, hire, and train kitchen staffCreate a culture of growth, accountability, and performanceConduct performance management and coachingCollaborationWork closely with the Special Events team on execution and planningCommunicate effectively with FOH leadership to ensure seamless serviceSupport overall restaurant operations and guest satisfactionRequirements:Qualifications10+ years of culinary leadership experience in fine diningProven experience as an Executive Chef or Senior Sous Chef ready to step upStrong financial acumen (food cost, labor, budgeting)Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teamsHigh standards for professionalism, communication, and accountabilityDeep knowledge of food safety and sanitation standardsCulinary degree preferred (or equivalent experience)What We're Looking ForWe are seeking a Chef who:Leads with respect and professionalismCommunicates with clarity and consistencyHolds themselves and others accountableBuilds a cohesive, high-performing teamBrings fresh ideas while respecting the Firehouse legacySchedule ExpectationsEvenings, weekends, holidays requiredFlexible schedule based on business needsHands-on leadership during service
