With dozens of competitive AAUbasketball teams competing across local and regional circuits, we take pride in our passionate andskilled coaching staff.We’re looking for motivated assistant basketball coaches to join our PPA AAU program and work withour competitive boys and girls teams. Assistant coaches will have the opportunity to learn directly fromexperienced head coaches and may be promoted to a head coach role based on performance,leadership, and commitment to PPA’s player-first philosophy.Responsibilities: Support & Lead: Assist in leading 2–3 practices per week, helping implement practice plans that focuson player development, fundamentals, and team concepts. Game Day Coaching: Support the head coach during league games, tournaments, and scrimmages(2–6 tournaments per season). Player Development: Provide direct feedback and instruction to athletes during practices, games, andfilm review sessions. Team Communication: Maintain open communication with parents, players, and PPA directors tosupport team culture and expectations. Coach Development: Participate in PPA’s internal coaching workshops and clinics throughout theyear (e.g., Coach Wootten Clinic, USA Basketball training). Program Standards: Uphold PPA’s core coaching values—be prepared, be professional, be ateacher, and foster positive development on and off the court.Requirements Experience: 1–3 years of basketball coaching or playing experience (AAU, school, or recreationallevel). Commitment: Willingness to learn and grow within the PPA system, with interest in advancing to ahead coaching role. Location: Must be local to the Washington, DC / Bethesda, MD area or able to commute for practicesand tournaments. Skills: Strong communication, enthusiasm, reliability, and an understanding of how to balance skilldevelopment with competition.
