Position Overview Metal Powder Products (MPP) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality products to our customers. This role maintains compliance with IATF 16949 standards, drives continuous improvement, and leads structured problem-solving activities. The Quality Engineer works cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to prevent defects, improve processes, and support customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Quality Systems & Compliance Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO standards, and customer-specific requirements. Support internal, external, and customer audits. Maintain and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation. Review and approve PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Flows, and Work Instructions. Support APQP, PPAP, and Engineering Change processes. Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement Lead root cause investigations using 8D, A3, 5 Why, Fishbone, and structured methods. Implement corrective and preventive actions to eliminate recurrence. Monitor and improve quality metrics including FTT, Scrap/Rework, Customer PPM, and defect rates. Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives. Process & Product Quality Develop and maintain PFMEAs and Control Plans. Analyze process capability using SPC, Cp, and Cpk. Support new product launches and process validation. Investigate process variation and drive corrective actions. Ensure proper containment and disposition of nonconforming product. Customer & Supplier Quality Interface with customers regarding quality concerns and corrective actions. Lead customer complaint investigations and submit formal responses (8D, PRR, etc.). Support supplier quality improvement initiatives. Participate in customer audits and technical reviews. Measurement & Inspection Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA / Gage R&R). Ensure inspection methods and equipment are capable and maintained. Review dimensional and metallurgical data for compliance. Support development of inspection standards and documentation. Reporting & Documentation Prepare and present quality performance reports. Maintain corrective action and nonconformance records. Support development and revision of quality procedures and standards. Required Qualifications Associates degree (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing quality role (automotive preferred). Knowledge of IATF 16949, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and SPC. Experience with structured problem solving (8D, Root Cause Analysis, A3). Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
