Job Title: Embedded Software EngineerLocation: Onsite Waterloo IAContract: 24 months may extendPay Rate: $46/hr Job PurposeLocation: Waterloo, IAWork Type: 100% Onsite | No RemoteIndustry: Agricultural / Embedded SystemsEducation: Bachelor’s in Software, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science; equivalent experience considered. Recent graduates are welcome.Role Summary:Develop and validate embedded software for transmission controls on large John Deere tractors. Work closely with software developers, testers, and engineering stakeholders to deliver optimized, safe, and validated control solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop embedded applications using C and MATLAB/Simulink.Apply control theory to transmission control systems.Write and review software requirements.Follow embedded software development processes.Perform software development, testing, validation, and system tuning.Troubleshoot technical issues and independently solve problems.Support current tractor products and future system designs.Must-HavesEmbedded software development experience using C.MATLAB/Simulink or similar model-based development tools.Understanding/application of control theory.Experience with software requirements and embedded development processes.Strong technical problem-solving and communication skills.Ability to work independently and in a team environment.Relevant engineering/CS degree or equivalent experience.Preferred SkillsTransmission, mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems.Agricultural/automotive control systems.CAN, LIN, Ethernet communication protocols.Reading electrical schematics and datasheets.Embedded tools: emulators, compilers, simulators.Continuous integration and automated build tools.Lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
